RIDING FOR POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH
‘Riding for Positive Mental Health’ is a 12-week program that combines the physical activity of bike riding, led by Addventageous, with a structured education program, provided by the BE UNSTOPPABLE FOUNDATION, a registered charity that delivers mental health support and programs for adults and kids, using evidence-based mental health management strategies and positive psychology tools.
The program offers community participants a holistic approach to proactive self-care, arming them with skills to apply life-long that nurture resilience, emotional control, better management of ‘adverse mental health’ including stress, anxiety and depression, enhanced wellbeing and counselling/coaching support, along with education and practice on bike/riding skills, with strengthened community connection, through weekly learning workshops and riding in groups. The combination of sport and mental health education is key to the development of ‘positive mental health’ and wellbeing.
EVERY WEEK OF THE 12-WEEK PROGRAM WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
PART 1 - BIKE RIDE
Weekly hour-long bike-rides in groups of 10 people.
Suitable for learners, intermediate and advanced riders.
10-15 minutes of skill instruction per lesson.
Gradual progression from moderate to vigorous activity.
12-weeks of pre-planned riding routes.
Full support from professional ride leaders.
Group engagement and social connection.
Build/maintain riding skills, fitness and wellbeing.
Riding route areas: Wentworth Point, Rydalmere, Rhodes, Ermington, Sydney Olympic Park, Parramatta, Strathfield, Meadowbank, Canada Bay. Subject to change at our discretion.
PART 2 - ENJOY A LITE BRUNCH AFTER YOUR BIKE RIDE
A selection of tea/coffee will be provided.
A selection of sandwiches and biscuits will be provided.
Water is available to refill your own water bottle.
PART 3 - POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOP
Weekly 2-hour learning workshops.
Facilitated by Professional Coaches and Certified Counsellors.
Program manual full of learning content, tools and resources, provided to each program participant.
Understand 'Adverse Mental Health' and how to prevent it.
Strengthen your mindset and resilience.
Understand your own psychology.
Build confidence and self-belief.
Improve your communication / relationships.
