🚴‍♀️ To Get Her Cycling – Riding Together

A Podcast for Women Who Want to Ride — and Don’t Know Where to Start

Why do we ride?

For many of us, it’s not just about exercise or saving money on petrol. It’s about freedom. Confidence. Reclaiming space. Or simply getting from A to B on our own terms.

But starting that journey can feel hard—especially if you're a woman who never learned to ride, hasn’t been on a bike in years, or isn’t sure where it’s safe to ride.

That’s exactly why we created To Get Her Cycling – Riding Together.

🎙️ Why This Podcast Exists

To Get Her Cycling is a podcast built by and for women who want to ride.

It began with genuine conversations at our community bike programs—Her Cycling Connections, Adult Learn to Ride, and Women in Focus. Women told us they wanted to:

  • Feel confident on a bike

  • Use a bike for everyday transport

  • Ride with their kids to school or work.

  • Have support, guidance, and a place to start

So, we created this podcast as a companion. Something you can listen to on your way to work, while walking the dog, or before heading out for your next ride.

It’s real stories, practical tips, and a whole lot of encouragement—delivered with care, humour, and a strong sense of you’ve got this.

🚲 Why Now? Because It’s Biketober.

October is Biketober—Australia’s national month for riding to work and discovering the power of everyday cycling.

It’s the perfect moment to launch a podcast for beginners, returners, and anyone who’s been thinking, “Maybe I could ride too.”

This year’s theme? Riding to go places.

We’re flipping the narrative from “cycling for sport” to “cycling for real life.”

🎧 What to Expect from the Show

Each 25–30 minute episode follows a simple but powerful format:

✅ A real woman’s story of how she started ✅ A skill spotlight to build confidence ✅ A community highlight, event, or resource ✅ A short reflection or takeaway

Episode 1: Start Where You Are Our first full episode drops on Thursday, 16 October, and explores what it means to begin—whether you're dusting off your bike after a decade or learning for the first time.

💬 Who Is This For?

This podcast is for you if:

  • You’re curious about cycling, but don’t know where to start.

  • You’re tired of driving short trips.

  • You want to build your confidence riding on shared paths or quiet streets.

  • You want to hear from women who’ve been there, too

It’s also for NDIS participants, CALD communities, mums, aunties, neighbours—anyone looking for a more connected, active way to get around.

🧭 Our Big Picture

This podcast is part of a broader mission: To create safe, inclusive, supportive cycling communities where women can thrive.

It’s not just about bikes. It’s about well-being, independence, community connection, and opportunity.

We’re proud to be doing this work on Dharug Country, and we honour the strength and wisdom of First Nations people whose stories, journeys, and care for Country inspire us every day.

🎧 Listen, Share, Ride
